I use 000Buck shot in my 410 if I m in the brush of 2nd growth stand or any rifle I have sighted in with a good load at the time. I also use 00buck if I can find it. But I have yet to find anything in mass quantity. I am thinking about reloading shot shell so I can make what I want instead of spending a $1 each shell. I have to say any deer load will work fine, I would ad void using bird shot unless your under 15yds. One good thing to remember is your own personal ethics, what gets the job done in 1 shot and, your ability to hit the target. If you have bird shot and that's all you have, personally I wouldn't have any issues of you using it under the 15yds. No reason to have them suffer more then they should. But that's a personally opinion on ethics. Remember that will differ from person to person. Just ask the anti trappers. A 22LR works well, but you better be a hell of a shot to drop the at over 50yds. Best place to place the bullet, this also goes for the people who deer hunt, there is no huge shoulder blade to shoot around. When looking at the yote look at the front elbow, draw a straight line up at a 90* angle. Right about in the middle or just above middle is the hart. Just about a 1 shot kill with no run off every time. Best of luck, keep us posted and send photos if you have any. James PS Please excuse my horrid English. I've had pretty good luck with BB's on shots to 40 yds. or so. I'd suggest patterning about 3 shots to make sure your pattern is sufficiently dense. I've also used #2's and #4 buck with success. velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.

#4 buck.....if you can find it.

My 870 only goes to 3", but for coyotes it's #4 buck out of a full choke. I am also anxious to try Remington HD in BB. You absolutely must try out your load and choke on paper first or you may be in for a big surprise - cheap gift wrapping paper is very good for seeing where your gun patterns. Besides all the good info you get here, you should also check out PredatorMasters - they have some extensive tests on loads, etc. . I am a member to Predator Masters as well, there is alot of info you can pull from those guys. They have helped me out many of time. I recommend getting your hands on as many books as you can on your target critters and also read a few more books on tracking. That alone will help you out more in the long run along with a good mouth call. And one last thing, TRIGGER TIME! #4 Buck out of a 12ga., 2 3/4" shell size. Use the 27 pellets per shell, they fly faster than the 34 pellets per. Have had good luck out to 50 yds with grouping with a modified choke on a Winchester 1300 pump. Finally, use straight lead, copper plating gives more penetration but less energy transfer. Coyotes aren't that thick.

Without coming off as a smart butt.........."I don't think anyone recomends a 410" for this duty.............but if I had to use one, I'd recomend #4's in a 3", "fuller than full" choke or a bigger gun. Just my thoughts. GHD Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

Most of all our hunting is in 2nd growth or under brush here in Maine, most yote kills are under 30yds. Also I have never been a huge fan of the over powered shot guns when I dont need to reach 75yds or more. If I m shoothing that distance I m using my 30-06 or 6.5x55. James, Did not mean to ruffle any feathers with my reply earlier. Back when the 3 1/2 inch shotguns(12 guage) were introduced, a guy came into the gun shop one day and was "hell bent for leather" that he needed a 3.5" chambered shotgun for turkeys. I told him that it was not necessary! I could show him 48 long beards on a wall that had all been shot with a Remington 870 YOUTH MODEL 20 guage! It was all about the calling and gettin them in close and that was the thrill. I asked him "Why do you think you need a 3.5"? His answer shut me up!! He said, "Because they don't make a 4 inch!!" I walked away thinking "Roy Weatherby would have loved this guy or vice-versa." GHD Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

I have a 10ga for geese and late season ducks and when the snow flies Remington express lead BB from that big 10 will roll those yodlers at 70 yards. The velocity is not that great, but lead BB penetrates wonderfully in mammals (except beaver) and the pattern from regular old invector plus mod. is dense enough to block out the moon.
