prairie dog hunting bans

I may not be a biologist yet but I do have some common sense.
Do you think the bans on prairie rat shooting are really due to conservation concerns? My guess is that animal rights activists have become aware of "mass deaths" of the rodents and have then pulled strings to get the Endangered Species Act into the equation. Hell, around here they are found in the middle of Wyomings largest cities and are poisoned to the extent that our pest district can do so.
My school campus is overrun with the things and a tree-hugging,transplanted teacher just told me how wonderful it is that these rodents feed the eagles on campus.
My first thought was "biotch, have you ever seen an eagle feeding on a dog in the middle of a school campus"? I sure haven't, I have seen alot of them out feeding on my kills in the prairie however.
My second thought was, man, I can't believe how disturbed these people are. It's almost like they moved to WY, see some wild animals and become overwhelmed and insane from the sudden experience.

The way I see it, its nothing but another land grab by the government fueled by a bunch of idiots who haven't got the God given good sense to think for themselves in an effort to control private land and the people who own it.

Actually, what i think happened in CO is that the US Fish an Wildlife told CO to geta management program on the books, and a year or so later CO hadn't done anything, so i think they threatened to ban all killing of pr.. dogs in the state. So CO responded by saying no more sport shooting east of I-25, which is a big farce, since nobody at the DOW supports it anyway, as all you need is permission from the rancher, who claims to have a problem with them, to shoot them (really, no different than it was in the past).

To the anits the thought of a human killing anything is just wrong. The same critter can be ripped and torn apart eaten alive by a nonhuman hunter and that is just fine. They the antis have a very warpped sense of life and death.. Don't tell the anits that eagles and other birds of prey are eating your dead p dogs. The sorry SOBS well go out and find a dead bird claim that it died of lead poisening and try and ban all lead hunting bullets for varmits. As you most likely can tell I think the bans are BS.
[Big Grin] In June I plan to go and turn bad (Living p dogs) into to good (dead p dogs). Enjoy your shooting.

I teach school and every summer I go to Wyoming and shoot dogs. Well for a couple of years when I returned to school and when asked what I did over the summer.... well I got drug over the coals. Last fall when asked what I had done I said that I had went to Wyoming and had participated in a range improvement program by trying to eradicate "grass rats" it was considered "cool".
