Hi, I am looking for a acuratte .308 rifle, nothing high custom end or so expensive like a Sako TGR, but unleast a .308 sub-moa rifle ? Which the best out the box?

Remington Police?
Tikka Tactical?
Remington XCR?
Weatherby Sub-MOA?

My son has a Tikka T3 SS Lite in .308Win that is a tack driver right out of the box. We've shot many Sub moa groups with 110V-max and 155 A-max loads. It is so good that I bought the same rifle in .243Win. It routinely shoots half-inch 100 yd groups with 87v-maxs and has been extremely accurate and reliable in the field. Very slick bolt and a really smooth factory trigger.

youngoutdoors ; Yes I read a lot good things about savage, but they are not available any more in my country, just Marlin, Mossberg Savage, Winchester,Browning,Sako,Cz,Steyr and those that I mentioned, thanks for the advice.

My brother has a Remington Police that is very accurate out of the box. I also have a Browning that is the same. I would choose either. I know nothing about the Tikka.

I think .308's are just "inherently" accurate!

I know that Tikka's and Savage rifles are accurate out of the box. But, their looks and design don't float my boat, so I don't own any of them.
I do own two Weatherby's that are very accurate. So they would get my vote from your list.
I do own many Remingtons that are accurate, after tweaking them.
The 308 is a fine chambering and was used by many Benchrest shooters on the circuit back in the early 1970's when I was shooting in that competition. It is accurate.

Another vote for the Weatherby.

My daughter's Vanguard .308 (not a Sub-MOA) has gone 1/4 MOA 3 shots at 100 more than once.

Maybe a 1 in a million gun??? Incredible, nevertheless.

If you can't buy a Savage buy a Cooper.

Any of the rifles you list, and those mentioned in this thread, will likely provide MOA accuracy with a decent scope, good ammunition, maybe some trigger tuning, and of course a capable shooter which I am sure you are.

Of those you've listed I'd had the most experience with Weatherby Vanguards, around eight or ten rifles in various calibers. Never seen one which wouldn't shoot sub MOA. Also have ried a couple recent Remingtons, Savages, and Tikkas and have had excellent results with those as well.

Nice thing about any .308 (if you don't have the time or inclination to handload) is the ready availability of fabulously accurate match ammo, often using the great Sierra Match King bullets. Also have had great results with Hornady TAP ammo.

Incidentally (brief subject change), a few years ago you wrote an enthusiastic hunt report on your experience at Gras Ranch. Largely as a result of your very positive report my wife and I (along with another couple) hunted at Gras in 2008 and had an absolutely wonderful time, and plan to return.

I am happy to give an enthusiastic vote for the Tikka rifle. The T3 is outstanding and I am certain the tactical would be even better.

I hear the Rem model 7 is a real shooter out if the box in most any cal.I think it's probably due to the 20" barrel.

I don't know about the others you listed but I've used and carried a 24" Remington 700 Police since 1987. Mine was shooting five shot groups in the .4s out of the box, as did other 700s used by my teammates. Mine wears Bausch & Lomb 10 power Mil-dot 30mm tube. Teammates guns wore Swarovski or Leupold scopes. Ammunition was Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain. I've been very satisfied with that rifle.
That said, in 2006 I bought a Remington 700 LTR in .308 and mounted a Leupold 4.5-14x40 Tactical. With M118LR 175s the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds I fired out of the gun went into a .108" group at 100 yards. I find it does under .5 minute out to 300. With the short 20" barrel I find I'm picking it up more and more as a "fun gun".

Get a good used Sauer...200 or 202...super action...never had one that wouldn't shoot MOA with factory ammo of some kind. Last one I bought was a 200 in 243 for $800 with upper/lower hardware detachable mount.

From the list of rifles you've provided my suggestion is the Tikka T3.

Missed you there the last few years...

This year was the first in quite a while I didn't get to a shoot there. Last time was 2009, had a great time shooting with Mike Jordan and Mike Faw. In fact I made a short video of the 2009 shoot which is one my web site.

Hope to make it back in 2011, it's so pretty there and the numbers of ground squirrels, especially on the irrigated fields, defy belief. Actually got the barrel of a Ruger 77/22M target model hot (not just warm) one time.

The Remington Police would be a fine pick. I have a 700PSS in 308 that I have been shooting all summer; it has been all that I could have hoped for. Shoting Sierra 168 gr. HPBT match ahead of 44 gr. of Varget. Best of luck. Jack

Agree. Good words.
If I was an employee of Cooper rifles, and learned that our owner did such a stupid, business destroying thing, I would want his ass out of there, permanently.

I have had great success with my CZ550 Varmint with the walnut stock. I paired it with an IOR 2-10x FFP scope, mil/mil reticle/knobs.

To me part of getting a rifle to shoot well is finding one that fits me well. This CZ does that very well. It is not too cumbersome for a heavy barrel, and using Lapua 155's and Lapua brass I have had stellar accuracy with the rig.

It wasn't too dear either, at the time I bought it. The trigger is really nice, whether standard or set trigger. The narrower wrist on the stock and the absolutely perfect checkering work well for me.

I would recommend one if they are not too expensive in your home country.

The ICON Warlord on the high end and the Savage 10 on the low end.

My Remington 700 ADL Varmint in 308 shot a 3/4" group after shooting 20 rounds to condition the bore. I was using cheap ass Ultramax 168s.

It's still shooting like a house on fire. I've got about 100-120 rounds down the tube now. Around the 100 mark, I shot another 100 yard group and it did the same thing.

Big 5 sold it to me for 599 with a 50 rebate from Remington. Hard to beat that performance for that money.

My choice would be the Reminton 700. You can't go wrong.
