I have used the Nosler Ballistic Tip 70 grain in my .243 HB very successfully on prairie dogs, both in terms of accuracy and terminal performance. I recently ran out of BT's, but have loaded some 70 grain Blitz Kings in their place. Using the same load, velocity and accuracy are very similar in my gun, but my question is in terminal performance. Anyone have any comments comparing the two?

While both are very destructive when launched at higher velocities, the Sierra gives more complete fragmentation and is a better choice when ricochet is a problem. The thick, solid base of the BT doesn't fragment. I've used them both in a number of calibers, and both always seem to give match-grade accuracy. But as far as terminal performance is concerned, you won't be able to detect any real-world difference in the field. Stone creek my gun dealer told me the same thing that the sierra was much more explosive.......I chose the nosler 70 gr BT #1 because there a tad harder and IF I shoot something bigger than a fox it will go in a little deeper and #2 they where much cheaper due to the bulk 250 pack available.

Both above comments are consistent with my experience with Ballistic Tips. Even though the bullet itself is very frangible, the solid base provides penetration out of proportion to the rapid expansion. Sounds like if I have been liking the BT's for prairie dogs, I won't be disappointed in the Blitz Kings.
