cal 223 1-8 twist
Has anyone tried this twist? How does it shoot the lighter bullets: Thinking of Tikka tactical rifle?

Not sure about the Tikka .
But I have a AR 15 with a 1-8 barrel.
It is a tack driver , I use 55 gr Nosler BT .
I tryed 1 load using 50 gr BT and had good accury .
I tryed some of the Win USA white box 45 gr HP and some Federal 40 gr Ballistic tip ammo.
Neither shot well , There were several Win bullets that failed to reach the target ,Found parts of the bullet in the paper( my guess ,too much rpm tore them apart)

50 gr and up worked great.

I had a Virgin Valley Contender barrel with a 1:8, and it shot everything from 40 grain spitzers to the 75 grain A-Max with tremendous precision. Within reason, you can't overstabilize a bullet -- but you can certainly understabilize one...

articfox, I have several AR's with the 1 in 8 and have found the 50 to 52 grn to be the best for me but this is also out of a 16" barrel. If I do my part off the bench they will print 1 ragged hole groups
I just put a new Kreiger 24" upper on one of the AR's so we will see how that does at the range today. good luck

223 in 1-8 twist?
I have heard of 1-7 but not 1-8. Verify the twist. I think you have a rifle that will shoot a 65 to 70 grain bullet.

I have a .220 Swift with a fast twist barrel. Heavy bullets in a .224 leave every other .224 bullet in the dust at long range.
