My local small pawn and sport shop just got in a CZ527 Varminter in 17 Remington. The owner told me that this particular caliber would be made in limited numbers. He told me a factory rep told him that. Anyway its a very nice looking Rifle with dark attractive wood. The price is $560.00.

I remember someone looking for one from this forum but I can't remember who. I did a search but no luck. My memory is fading (thats why I try to write everything down).

Anyway its a neat looking Rifle and the UPS guy just dropped it off.

If anyone can refresh my memory on who was looking for this CZ527 in 17 Remington please do so.

The shop also just got in a Savage bolt action heavy barrel blued steel with fiberglass stock and AccuTrigger Rifle in caliber 204 Ruger. It was priced at $495.00. I looked it over pretty carefully also and the Accu-Trigger was somewhat pleasing. The 20 caliber hole in that heavy, long barrel (26") looked really cool.

So many guns - so little time!

'Twas I, VG! Thanks for looking out for me.

I stumbled on one locally for $489 but the damn rings are $60! Also local for $550 is a Rem 700 BDL. Hmm.
Same price since I (and probably half the world) have 700 mounts and rings in the parts bin. Hmm.

If it's all the same, I'm leaning toward the Rem for lots of availablity and support reasons. I love my CZ in 17 HMR
so I've got nothing agin'em. Hmm. Ponderponderponder.

Thanks again!

redial...Your not quite comparing apples to apples. The CZ 527 has a 24" heavy barrel and a set Trigger plus the normal trigger. It's clip fed and is developing quite a reputation for accuracy. Not sure how the 700 matches up with these features. I shoot a non-cataloged version of the 17 Rem. varminter, only it's in 223 and has a 26" barrel(stocks are the same). I think the set trigger has taken a couple of tenths off my groups. I have the regular trigger at 3# and the set trigger at 14oz. I'm sure you will like which ever you choose. Hope it works, I have a friend that shoots the 17 Rem. and loves it.....Ken

Redial: I did not think to inquire if that price included rings. Good luck with whichever you choose!
I have two Remington Varmint Rifles in caliber 17 Remington right now. One is the 24" sporter barreled Remington 700 Classic. It shoots well and I am very happy with it. The other is a Remington 700 Varmint weight 26" heavy barreled all stainless (action and barrel) with fiberglass stock. This was a limited run of 1,000 Rifles made in 2,002. It shoots REALLY well! I have bought and sold at least two Remington 700 BDL's in 17 Remington in the distant past but never shot any of them. They moved pretty well though when being sold back then when they were about the only thing around in 17.
Good luck in your search!
