hello, I am thinking of getting an AR-15 and was wondering if anyone uses the bushmaster varminter. I really like the camo model. Are they really worth the money? I found a place that priced the camo model at just under 1500. I think if that is what you are looking for in a rifle then that fills every requirement that you may need. ive shot every thing from rats to deer with my mini-14 from ranges from 25 to 250 yards and i know that ARs are more accurate especially the varminter model. You can save a lot of money if you buy a kit. You can customize it and get exactly what you want. You might have to take it to a gunsmith for the camo job, but you'll still end up spending less money. My first one was a bushmaster. It shot fine, but I decided I wanted change some things and wound up putting more money in it than I wanted to. Start with a stripped receiver and customize it from the start. | |||

I've had the varminter with the stainless barrel for many years. Totally reliable and with the right factory or handloads will do 1/2 MOA with 5 shots. For the camo, I'd either paint it myself or have a gunsmith do it. Cheaper in the long run probably. This is my most fun varmint gun. Currently have a 6-18x scope on it. Mike | |||

Well since the same outfit owns Remington as does Bushmaster, why not just get one of the new Remington models? their price tag is around $1100.00... and they offer 3 models...one included is a heavy barreled varmint version.. Sportsman's Whorehouse has Bushmasters, etc for way under $1500.00... more like a grand or less... spend the rest on some quality glass for it...
