Dumb question from a guy with no experience below 17cal.. What kind of ballistics and stuff can you get with those 14cal cartridges? If you have to track your animal, you aren't using a big enuff gun.

A 14/221 Walker is a cross between the 14/222 Walker and the 221 Remington Fireball. According to the 10th edition of Cartridges of the World, the 14/222 Walker will push an 11 grain bullet from 4,200 to 4,400 fps. Don't know downrange performance numbers. According to RCBS.Load, the 14/222 Walker has a 23.1 grain water capacity. The 221 Fireball has a 18.4 grain water capacity. That would reduce the case capacity about 20%. By some people's rule of thumb, that should reduce the velocity about 5% or about 200 fps with the 14/221 Walker. Am having Pac-Nor make me the 14/221 now, but it will be a few months before the barrel, dies, bullets, etc. are here. Then there's the cleaning rod, brushes, patches, etc. Need to find a little scope to go with it. Am sure The Small Caliber News folks have played with it. There is a fellow up in Kalispell, Montana, playing with 10 caliber barrels.
