I pretty much have my heart set on getting a Foxpro call sometime in the near future, but I don't know which one is the best for me. I have been looking at either the firestorm or scorpion. Those of you who have these calls why do you like them or not? I will be mainly using for coyotes, but raccoons, crows, and that stuff interests me too. I also like the option to get all the african calls as I will be in an area that has lions this summer and would like to mess with their heads and shoot a few jackals as well.

Thanks

I've had the fx3 and the fury and currently own the scorpion. The fury was a little more (no a lot more) call than I needed. I like the scorpion and they just came out with an updated model of the scorpion but I haven't played with it yet. Foxpro is light years ahead of any other brand e-caller.

I bought the Spitfire about a month ago. About $200. Nice and compact. I've only shot crows with it but am pleased thus far.

I have the AR-4 which I use with my mp3 player. The FoxPro callers are great units. The Firestorm has replaced the FX-3 and is getting rave reviews. The Scorpion is a nice compact unit, but if you will be calling in wide-open terrain (such as Kansas), I'd go with the Firestorm or the CS-24 if you want to spend the extra cash.

+1 for the Firestorm or CS-24. If you budget is tight, the Spitfire at $200 will get the job done. You will have to buy a separate reader/writer to add/change your sounds.

If you are not in a hurry, FOXPRO will be introducing a new model, the Wildfire, in July. It will look like the Spitfire but will have more volume, hold more sounds (comes with 35, holds 200), have the FOXBANG feature, and have the same remote as the Firestorm for about $300.

Bob, Thanks for the heads up on the new models! Winter time here, cold, miserable caling weather, crows are fun though!! Take the scattergun an have at it! Still a few foxes that ain't bred yet so they are stil hot to trot!! The downtime for the predator calling is from now till April, so the crows in thier almighty, smarter than the average beast(not really) mindset will suffice for a couple moths! GHD

Bob, what format are the sounds stored in? I was thinking about the Spitfire myself. I know they are on a microSD card, but what format?

Thanks,

Larry

My uncle just built one w/ a cheap mp3 player an old cb radio and a swap meet PA speaker. Pretty cool and he's got like $40-50 in it. Just a little winter project he wanted to try out. Put it all in a tool box. Powers it with a fish TV camera battery. Not saying its any better or worse just a winter tinker project that turned out cool.

The FoxPro sound files have their own proprietary format.

Does Foxpro have various feral hog sounds like piglet in distress? It sure would liven up things when you don't know what will show up and how many rifles to bring.

They have a huge sound library. Probably a little something for everyone. Here is the link:

For a used one you might want to check the classifieds on some of the predator and varmint forums.
All of the places I've checked that carry the new FoxPro units price them the same. However, every so often when FoxPro discontinues a model, you can pick them up at a much more reasonable price.

I bought an FX3 & upgraded it to the FX5, I've beat mine to death all over the country for several years & I've got no issues. I've been very pleased with FoxPro.

If you can find a good used FX5 you will be a happy camper. 200 sounds can go a long way. I have one and I am very happy with it. It even survived a bite from a coyote.

I have a Foxpro Scorpion that I really like.
It does have a fairly wide array of feral hog sounds, ie. piglet in distress, etc.
