Some would say I am bloody mad..........but my love of cz's meant the remington had to go Confused I traded it in on a cz 550 laminate 22/250. I just like the feel of the cz action.

New cz laminate should be here in the next 8 or so days, my gun dealer does not stock them because he "hates cz's"he thinks I have lost my marbles Frowner

So do you all think I am crazy Big Grin nut

I had a VSSF-P in .22/250 and it was a (consistent) very ordinary shooter . I could have 3 x CZ's for what it has cost me to make it work .
You're the one shooting it . If CZ's blow your hair back then you should have one . thumb

Deals done now bush chook....so as they say rest is history.

I wanted the Kevlar stocked version but to get one ofthose would have been $2200AUS as it's a special order.

I wwould work out better to add the hs stock as an after market piece. But I will try the laminate first and see how it is. I have never had a laminate stock before.

PC: I would be interested in knowing how the Remington 700 VSSF shot for you. I have the same Model in 220 Swift and it shoots well for me and I am happy with it.
My VSSF shot these last 4 recorded 5 shot 100 yard groups on different days - the groups were .399", .602", .562" and .691"! My VSSF has a Sightron 6x24 variable scope on it.
I am pleased with the performance of this Remington and am sorry you were not happy with yours!
I hope the CZ shoots better and it pleases you more than the Remington did!
Again I would appreciate your impressions of the Remington 700's accuracy - just to satisfy my curiousity.

VG it shot well and I only ever shoy winchester supreme 50 gr silver ballsitic tips through it. I used to shoot three shot groups and if I did my part two would be practically through the same hole and the third right beside the other two.

So........I have given up a shooter but for me it's about the rifle package as a whole, also my other 5 cenetrfire bolt rifles are cz's so I now at the moment I have rifles with all the same triggers and saftey's etc. from my .22 Hornet through to my .458 lott.

I have three boxes of win supreme 22/250 stuff left and when thats burned up I will reload for this rifle, HS also make a stock for it which am tempted to get but I will try the laminate stock first.

Spradlins in the states have my 6.5-20x40 leupold at the moment re doing it in black (it was silver) that is the scope I will mount on this cz 550.

I also got rid of stainless ruger canoe paddle 30/06 and all things goin well will get a second laminate cz in .308.

PC ,
The factory HS stock on my VSSF-P came complete with factory cracks . I bought the rifle with 60 shots thru it so no warranty from Remington . I faxed HS to see what their thoughts were .They couldn't be bothered replying which I understand is not unusual from them . Allan Naumann from Nerang repaired the HS for me and said there was evidence of an attempted repair under the factory paint job . It'll be a cold day in hell before I have another HS stock .
Given a good pillar and glass bedding job I will be surprised if the laminated CZ stock doesn't do everything you want it to .
The gunsmiths (including John Giles from PSECO) that I spoke to when trying to accurise my VSSF-P advised that the HS stock be skim bedded over the bedding block anyway .

I think you will be pleased with that trade. I'm a big Remington fan, but when I bought my varminter a few months ago I was torn between the VSSF and CZ 550. A buddie of mine bought the Rem VSSF just before I made my purchase, so I got to shoot it and handle it alot, and I figured that was the route I would go. When the time came and I had the guns down on the counter, the CZ 550 Laminate just felt too good in my hands to pass up. I bought it and have not looked back. We spent time at the range punching paper and developing loads, and the VSSf shoots "good" but when 38.5 gr H-380 and Hornady 50gr V-max started going down the barrell he wouldn't shoot next to me any more Big Grin 5 shot groups in the 5's and 6's are common, and groups in the high 3's with both V-max and Barnes. I started showing off by taping Dimes to the target and punching nice holes in them, yeah, I like that gun. The difference is probably nothing more than the triggers, but that set trigger on the Cz sure makes small groups easier.

One thing though it did string shots just a tad at first, so I did have to float the barrell. It took a dowel, sandpaper and about 15 minutes work and cured the problem. Other than that, I did nothing too it.

I don't think you are nuts... I love the CZ rifles also... but I have to admit, I'd have kept the Remington.... But of course at my house we have a problem.... We are open to new rifles finding their way into my "family" of rifles.. but we don't let many leave the 'family' safe.....

I am normally not a Remington fan except for their varmint weight rifles....I like CZs but I prefer them in their hunting rifle weights....

I love the saying from Bushchook: " if it blows your hair back.." Gawd do I love you Aussie guys..... you guys have the world's best sense of humor!

cheers

Thanks folks,

I do not think I will worry about adding a HS stock after Bush Chooks experience, I will just get it bedded I think.

I am keen to add a laminate .308 cz to the mix as well. I will use that with 125 gr Nosler Ballistic tips more reliable on grassy's if a chest or rear end raking shot needs to be taken rather than head shots.

Seafire Yanks & Aussies are a lot the same really so we probably really share the same sense of humour culturally.

Yeah PC, same with Canadians, but I'd rate the Aussies as number one, the Canucks ( eh?) as number two and the Americans from the Southern USA number 3 for humor!

Cheers and good shooting
seafire!

PS: enjoy those new CZs!

I must agree with PC and seafire on this one. My Kiwi and Canuck friends are hilarious.
The best though is the dry wit of my Scottish pals- they really slay me.
Rebs from the south are great, too.
This coming from a true Yank.
