Recently purchased a CZ 452 in 17 hmr. Any recommendations for optics for this rifle? Primary use will be ground squirrels out to 150 yards.

Thanks

I like the 4.5-14 Buckmasters for the 17's and the V series Weavers do them justice also! It deserves some good glass!!! GHD

I've got a Leupold 4.5-14 on mine, wouldn't want anything less powerful.

Use the most powerful scope you can afford on it, it justifies the good glass. I am currently using a Burris FFII with Ballistic Plex on mine, a 3-9, and it will allow me to shoot 1" groups, and hit PDs at long distance, but it's awful for range work, you can't see those little holes very well at 100 yards. It's fine for ratkilling, but for range work, use MORE. I have a 6-24 that will be on it, until the next PD trip. With the bigger scope, I can cut the group size to a half-inch.

OD Bear: My heavy barrled Ruger 77/17V has a wonderful Weaver KT15 on it. This is a fixed 15 power scope. It has target knobs and a duplex reticle. It also has the adjustable objective. I highly recommend plenty of power for your 17 HMR Gopher Getter! My close friend has a Weaver 4x16 scope on his Ruger 77/17V! We are both happy as clams with our Rifles and scopes when used on Ground Squirrels, Prairie Dogs and Rock Chucks! I have been looking for a Weaver 4X16 myself as I want to use mine this winter on Fox while calling at night. The 4x low end will help while spot lighting!
I have taken Ground Squirrels with the 17 HMR to 202 laser ranged yards don't limit yourself to 150 yards.
Please go with plenty of power you won't be sorry! And a high power variable will add versatility to this wonderful new cartridge and enhance your Rifles accuracy!
Edit: I forgot to add, OD Bear, that the Weaver KT15 that I now use has been discontinued by Weaver and they are sometimes found for a great price, used, at Gunshows!
Good luck with whichever you choose.

Have a Marlin 17V. First scope was a 3-9 EXP Tasco CRAP scope. My best group was 5 shots in 2" at 220 yds. Went for a Jaguar Scandinavia 2,5-10x50 (yet another/better crap scope, but cheap!) and best group is under 1" at 220 yds. With a decent scope this rifle may turn out to be accurate! [Big Grin]
