Coyotes are moving into my area in Va. It is now time to start knocking them back.
I don't have any coyote hunting experience, just deer, squirrel, and goose.
I would like to know if any of you guys know of a forum that is populated by guys who are just obsessed with shooting coyotes? I'm sure some are better than others, that is why I am asking for opinions.
Thanks. I'm tuning up my .223 and my .22 mag right now.

PredatorMasters Forum is one of the best ones I visit, especially because it had sections that cover us eastern US yote hunters. You don't need a free registration unless you want to view the classifieds.

While I will not dispute that hunting them is a lot of fun, the most effective way to knock the numbers down continues to be trapping. Lessons learned in successfully hunting coyotes and fox will make you a better hunter in general. Good luck.

"Predator Extreme" ran some articles specifically dealing with East Coast coyote strategies- they were great, covering the type of terrain you'd find in your area- I shoot in NE North Carolina and the information in the articles was very pertinent.

I've read where the area between Richmond and the Carolina line has seen a substantial increase in coyotes.

What I can tell you from experience in hunting coyotes, if calling and for whatever reason you cannot make a killing shot, DON’T SHOOT. Coyotes learn fast and normally will not respond to calls again as readily as a rookie coyote. Where I live I carry a rifle with me all the time and shoot coyotes from the hood or across the bed. The past couple of years I have noticed the coyotes cut and run if the truck just slows down. I have talked to a couple of my rancher friends and have been told that there has been three young kids chasing coyotes on their four wheelers and shooting at them while chasing them. The coyotes learn fast. Just a nickels worth.

The above can be taken to the bank. In rural areas in Texas, everyone carries a rifle and if they see a coyote, they either kill it or give it a hell of a reason to run.

Even the rocks don't last forever.
