What's the longest groundhog burrow length you've heard of? According to Wikipedia, they can be up to 5 feet deep and up to 48 feet in total length. The reason I ask, is that I've had multiple groundhogs living under my front porch. I've already capped 3 this year that were doing that and in addition, killed 3 others that were further away from my house. It seems that the evidence of burrowing starts from under my porch with no room for a groundhog to squeeze under from the outside. The closest to my porch that there is another groundhog burrow is about 300 feet away. My question; have you ever heard of a burrow that long?

Never heard of a burrow that long. Put a hose in it and see where the water comes out. velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.

Well, the day before yesterday I saw the little bugger. I had thought the opening under the porch was too small for a groundhog to fit through but I was wrong since, to my surprise, it was able to slip through it. I checked that end of the porch multiple times yesterday and, finally, in mid afternoon it was out again AND I was wearing a snub nosed 357 Magnum. I got behind a bush and fired from about 15 yards and missed. The 'hog was confused as it didn't know where the noise came from and made the fatal mistake of not beating a retreat back under the porch and the second shot connected. The groundhog wasn't the biggest I've seen; I'd call it medium sized and probably about a year old. I believe it was too big to have been born this spring. The groundhog I've shot with 22 LR guns have generally run a ways before dieing. Those shot with handguns like 9mm Parabellum, 357 Magnum and 44 Magnums have all been DRT.

I figger they must make them at least 2,700 miles long!! I saw one in Oregon that looked exactly like one I saw previously in upstate Vermont!!! My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Now that you mention it.... A few years ago there was an article in Varmint Hunters Magazine about the tunnel length. The author had enough time on his hands he dug the entire den up... guess I dont need to know that bad I am one gun away from being happy

Hunted those little b-----s since my early teens, I would say 30 odd feet with a main mound hole and several blind holes for air conditioning and emergencies. JMHO --- John303.
