You might try the guys at allpredatorcalls.com. I purchased an fx3 unit from them and they seem very knowledgeable. I could be wrong but I don't think you will have a problem if you use a cottontail distress, a jackrabbit distress call, or any number of closed or open reed mouth calls. From my experience predators have to eat and are pretty much always on the lookout for a meal. They hear a distress call from what they think is a small animal in distress they check it out. Fox sometimes come in less than a couple minutes. I've had yotes take 20 minutes or more to appear. GWB

gumboot - As mentioned above, you will likely find success with other than a snowshoe call - the predators seem interested in just about anything that sounds like a dying animal. I've had success with both open reed and electronic calls. If you start with an open reed you will probably want to keep in in a pocket to keep it from freezing up on you. Here's a good place that I've found some pretty good info at:PredatorMasters Once you get into it you'll be hooked, so beware. If you are hunting for fur you may want to consider your firearm and the bullet choice now (if you didn't already). Good luck. . We have both Snowshoe and Cottontail here. I can tell you from experience that the Snowshoe sounds like a Cottontail that has reached puberty. Don't know what you have for calls but an open reed call will work great, just listen to some Cottontail recordings and take the pitch down just a little. I would agree with the others though, if you do a good job with the Cottontail, you will likely be successful. There are many other aspects you must be mindful of. Personally I would never use a mouth blown call in bear country. You can buy older model used foxpros with the remote very reasonable. I would set it at least 50 yards away and carry something a little more substantial than just a varmint rifle. A good friend of mine had an experiance with a black bear in New Mexico a few years back that made a believer out of him. In fact if you do a little research and ask around there are stories galore of the mistakes callers have made in bear country. (When I was a kid my father used to tell me that God hated a coward, I finally realized he has even less use for a fool.)
