Hi,

Took the new VSSF to the range today for the first time, after a tedious but thorough 9 shot break-in during the last weeks (a range visit has not been prioritized). I eventually got tired of the break-in and wanted to start shooting!

I have altered the trigger according to specifications so that it's now crisp and breaks at the lowest possible weight.

Here we go:





The Zeiss Conquest 6,5-20x50 with mildot reticle is installed in a Leupold QR mount.




The first group at 100 meters (109 yards). The left-most shot is the fouling shot.



The other 4 shots measure .63"

Finished off the session by pulverizing an orange in the prone position at 190 meters (208 yards). I would not like to be on the receiving end of this thing

This was a lot of fun! Little recoil, accurate, and devastating for whatever is in the cross-hairs

Aren't Oranges protected in Sweden? Or am I simply confused in that they have to be dipatched with non-lead ammo?

Good shooting! And I love that scope! I didn't realize the UMC ammo was that accurate in the Remington; I'm going to try it in mine. Are those 45gr loads?

I think with good tuned handloads you are going to have a real "barn burner" (American slang term for great performer!) there!

Please keep us advised how it works out with other ammunitions.
By the way I torque my action allen head screws to 45 inch/pounds on all my Remingtons.
I have not done any "accuracy testing" at this setting compared to other settings - it is just a setting that seems to work and hold "true" on all my bolt action Remingtons.
Some other folks go with 60 inch/pounds but I have been happy with 44 to 45 inch/pounds.

Oranges are protected in Sweden as per the European Union act, but of course they are in season all year round in all other European Union countries

The primary use for this rifle will be crows, red fox, badger, and stuff like that. I haven't planned on using it for deer, but if I do I will try the Rhino bullets.

I've already handloaded V-Max Moly 40 grain bullets with 3 different powders. I will have a go with them as soon as I clean my barrel and lube it with moly paste. I'm quite sure that groups will shrink as I start experimenting with the handloads and also get more use to the gun.

I'll try the torque setting on the actions screw as per your recommendation. Thanks!

I have the same scope and just love it.

Great guns aren't they!!!! Iv'e owned one for 9 years now and i love that thing. I put a Jewell 1 1/2 oz. trgger on it and a 6-24 Bausch and Lomb. It consistanly shoots 1/4" groups constantlly at 100 yds. Great gun thanks for posting the pics.

I have a vssf in 220 swift, I don't think I'll ever part with it!

Sweet rifle and very good shooting. Not to shabby on the pictures either!
