I went down to my ranch on the Texas coast today with the intention of doing some work. It was real wet so I decided to do a little varmint calling.

I got out the old Foxpro and placed it about a hundred yards downwind. I hit the remote and within a minute I saw a bobcat coming down a sendero. I could have shot then but it looked like a small one so I held my fire. He headed into the brush toward the caller. I grabbed my Cooper .22BR and waited. Nothing. I picked up my binoculars and scanned the brushline. Sitting underneath a tree looking at the caller was a full grown bobcat.

Man, that cat was hard to see as it blended in perfectly with the surrounding brush. I eased off the safety and took the shot. Here is a picture of the results.

Nice!

The 'cat pelts are about the only thing in this area still prime. I think I'lll try one more round of varminting later this week before I call it a season.
