I was guiding a hunt on a friend's ranch yesterday. After we got my hunter's animal down and in the cooler, I was able to do a couple quick stands. I called in this nice grey fox with the MOJO Double Trouble.

Bob

Exit from my 55gr. Sierra #1365 SBT.

That's pretty minimal fur damage there Bob.
What was the approx. distance?

Field sports are not about targets and scores. Score-keeping is necessary in competitions between humans, unattractive in competitions with weaker adversaries. Constant scores of many to zero do not smell of struggle and chance. They smell of greed.

Beautiful fox, Bob. I guess I am going to get beat up over this, but the fox is one animal I just can't kill... I might shoot a pair if I were going to mount them, but to me they are just too beautiful an animal. I know they are a predator and cause their proportion of damage, but there really is no over-abundance of fox in TX. I know out in west TX several years ago there was a wholesale poisoning program implemented, and the gray fox completely disappeared.

Now: as for coyotes... BOOM

Thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected. I was not trying to be judgmental; I was speaking for myself and no one else. They are just a gorgeous animal, and few people ever even see them.

I guess as I get older there are just fewer and fewer animals I will kill if I am not going to eat them. And again, that is just me.

Bob,

What time of day do you do most of your varmint calling? Any times seem to work better than others?

Right at sunup and just before sundown are always the best. Pretty much all night long without a moon. When it is cold enough, you can successfully call all day long. Nothing is hard and fast though. I called this fox in at 11:30 and the temperature was in the 70's.
