.... I use the 40gr V-Max bullets... you get quite a bit better ballistic coefficient, which gives a little better resistance to wind drift..but I agree... 200yds is not a problem if the wind is mild..less than 10mph.. I shot a group at 200yds with a 16" barrelled contender carbine that was 1 1/4" .... unfortunately that was my last 5 shots that day, and I haven't been able to get back to that range lately to see if I could duplicate it.. Use a good, explosive bullet like the V-max, and you should be able to make clean kills at 200, no sweat.
I am in agreement with Hornetguy that you can expect effective range to be out to 200 yards. You could potentially mitigate the effects of wind drift even further by using a 50gr VMAX bullet instead of the 40gr VMAX. I don't think that you would give up that much velocity to render the bullet ineffective. However, if you are using a gun with a twist rate slower than 1-12" then you will probably not be able to stabilize a 50gr bullet properly so that suggestion might not work for you. Either way, 200 yards is a very reachable distance.

I shot Nosler BT's for years in my Contender Carbine. I rcently purchased a CZ 527 and tried 40 grain Hornady VMax's in it. I was pleasantly surprised in the violent manner that crows are dismembered using the VMax's. Two hundred yards on a calm day is no problem.
