I have been trying to call next to clearcuts and burns. No luck yet. I know I should try in the brush, but I don't want to hunt with a shotgun. What about eastern Washington. Any good coyote hunting on public lands?

Located in Southern Oregon, high cascades seem to be great. However at night I have seen coyotes out all over the place. Cougars are a concern, and watch your fanny, as they can appear out of nowhere. A buddy was using a turkey call during Turkey season. Two bears and a cougar showed up before he had turkeys show up. ( he was moving his spots, not all the same area, same day). A good handgun would be a good thing to have along, or a 12 gauge shotgun ( especially in riot gun format). The best cougar is a dead cougar! The best varmint hunter is a live varmint hunter.

How am I suppose to spot, let alone take a shot at a coyote when my head will be swiveling around (as if on ball bearings) looking for cougar? Lol. Thanks for the input.
