This fox has been giving me the slip for a while but tonight I finally out foxed him. Shot him from kneeling 150 yards or so. Showed the good side the 50gr. ballistic tip made a mess of him from my .220 Swift

Glad to see that the 220 Swift still takes foxes! ( I used to sit out on the edge of woods and watch the fields below in winter with a sheet over my head in January, etc. The rifle was a Win. Mod.70 using a Fecker 8x scope. My load was a factory load, 48 gr. I smiled at your reference to showing the fox on a "good side". I shot woodchucks where the damage was appalling! Fortunately I could sell them off to a mink farm for 20c apiece and didn't have to pose them for photos!

Sorry about how dark it is. It was still about 10 mins. before legal time ended but being overcast the camera makes it look like complete darkness. If I were to keep hides I sure would stay away from BTs, but this was just "pest control". I was supprised that with a hole in his side the size of my fist he still spun in circles for a couple seconds before falling dead.

Pretty fox. But, there's snow in one picture and not in the other???

Yeh, I laid the fox out on a patch of snow in the back yard for the second picture. With the failing light the colour wouldn't show up good enough. You can also see the bigger dog tracks beside it from my Brittany spanial. There isn't much snow anywhere up here this year so I used a snow drift that hadn't melted yet in the back yard. If he'd been on snow when I shot him the blood would be a lot worse than you see there.

Why not go to 40gr and they won't blow them up.
and shouldn't exit, especially closer shots will blow up internally. Longer shots may punch on thru, but, shouldn't make too big a hole.

Would have made a pretty pelt this time of year and beautiful coloring.

I do have some sierra 40gr. HP that shoot great in my swift but I hadn't shot anything but paper with the BT's yet so kinda wanted to see for myself. I guess I was expecting coyote but if I'd known that the night would produce this fox I would most likely have gone with the 40's. You are right about the pelt, it was one of the finest hides I've seen on an animal. Very thick and nice colour. But I don't collect hide anyway so it's not an issue for me, but I will admit it's kind of a waste.
