What is your opinion of a Savage Model 12 Long Range Precision Varminter with AccuTrigger?

The single shot, right bolt, left port, 1" diameter barrel and AccuTrigger features of this rifle caught my attention.

Thank you for your input.

Thanks for your comment bartche. Savage seems to have developed quite a fan base with the AccuTrigger and the ability to change-out barrels with the Savage tools. I have never owned a Savage but am thinking I'll buy one chambered in .204 Ruger.

I think it is a great rifle and has some great features....

I also think Savage's management is starting to get a little too proud of their products....

Their being a great value as well as being a great shooting rifle is flying out the window...

The price on the new Model 12 is getting ridiculous...I started liking Savage for its great value, great accuracy, its simplicity.. all American values.. now they are ruining it with jacking the prices thru the roof...

I am getting to the point, I would rather re barrel an existing rifle I own, as opposed to selling it and buying something new....

I myself would opt for a Remington VLS with their new trigger first....if I was going to buy a new rifle...

I also thought Savage was more pricey than what I remembered them being, but I haven't been tracking them. Savage has a different action and is using HS Precision stocks on the M12 PV. All I have talked with about Savage report excellent results and all give two-thumbs-up to the AccuTrigger - no modifications required. I can't remember seeing a factory rifle with a 1" diameter barrel like the M12 PV.

I am more familiar with the M700 and will take another look at their heavy barrel rifles.
