caught this one peeking at me from
behind a sage.
thought he was hid and gave me time to
range him @ 344.
just as I got him in the scope,he got up and started trotting away, slight angle at first
then straight away. Bad mistake...
between the ears hold and a free ride to the skinning shed. m70 in 22-250

Gotta love those occasional drive-by targets of opportunity!

Good shooting!

Good practice for a wolf later this year!

PS - looks like a nice pelt - those fluffy westerns really sold well this year.

25.00 bounty from SFW and about
40 bucks for the hide.
makes it almost worth skinning.
sorry for the crappy pic, dropped him in the truck to go make another stand and he froze down

Good job.

A couple of days ago we had some of our sons at our house when their brother got married. We went out to an area where we shoot a lot out in the sagebrush hills to see if we could call in one. After no luck and a little time left we drove out a different route and ran into a pack of 5 of them crossing the paved road in front of us. I tried to grease one with the truck but he was too nimble.

You may need to check the grease on the old truck. That’s a pretty bad miss! Maybe a front-end alignment is needed or maybe a little adjustment to your swervage control. Wink

Greasy stinky little vermin might be worth skinning and prepping for $75, just because fuel is so high. Otherwise, I hate touching them, except when shooting!
