Anyone worked up loads for this rifle? I got a 16 inch heavy barrel upper with 1 in 8 twist. it wont do over an inch with any ammo i use but nothing gave me .25 inch groups. i just started reloading and would like to use some varmint bullets like v-max, ballistic tips etc.I dont know where to start. it will do .5 inch to .75 inch with good ammo but i want to shoot a coyote in the eye ball at 100 yds. my gun gives me a woody just thinkin about it.It wears a vari-x III tactical 4.5x14x40 with collapsable stock just in case i wanna run into a room full of ground squirrels with a trenchcoat......well you get the picture.

I am using 55 gr. Nosler Ballistic tips, over Varget.
I don't have the details of the load at hand, but I
did measure my chamber, with a Stoney Point OAL guage,
to get the load COL starting point. As I recall, I was
limited by the magazine, but it was not much off where I
wanted to start. I think the best I have seen out of
my 20" Wilson barrel is .4, with these loads. But I
think I noted that conditions were not perfect, so this
"best" group could have some room for improvement.

I just started using the Speer TNT(HV) 55 gr. bullets,
in a similar load, and the first test groups were
in the .5" to .7" range. Conditions were windy, and
my bench was a folding chair, and a saw horse(grin).
My new range is currently under construction, so all
but my most curious load work is on hold. I needed an
idea about how the TNT's shot, since the new range
area has varmints, and while I work on it, I
want to be able to repell any varmint attack(grin).

I have the 24" RRA Varminter. The Nosler 55 g BT in Winchester cases with 26 grains of W748 and Remington 7 1/2 primers loaded to 2.26" OAL is my varmint load. It will average .6" five shot groups with this load. For heavy bullets using the same brass, OAL and primer I have had .75" average groups with 77g Noslers and 24.5 grains of RL15 and with the 60 g Hornady Vmax 25.5 grains oh H4895 will get .69" average groups.
