For me with the same basic gun and twist it has been 50gr v-maxes. 55 v-maxes and 52gr sierra hpbt wouldn't shoot quite as good. I intended to try the 50gr blitz kings and just never went any further after trying the 50gr v-maxes. Try working up towards 36-36.3gr of IMR4064 in winchester brass with CCI BR2 or WLR primers and 50gr v-maxes about .022 -.025 off the lands and see what it will do. Remember to work up as its a max load. That load shoots scary accurate in my savage. Eeker

50 and 55 grain V Max for me also in a standard twist 22.250.

I've got a three groove 1:10 twist 22.250 barrel sitting in a box right now that I have to figure out what I'm going to do with.

I'm hoping the 75 grain V max will work, if not I'll go with the 68 grain match bullet.

...........for shooting what: paper, prairie dogs, wood chucks, coyotes........or perish the thought....deer???

The 50 & 55 gr. pills will work great. The 60 gr. Partition and 53 gr. TSX will also do well with larger critters. See what your rifle likes to shoot and have some fun. I am sure if you are more specific on what you plan to shoot you will get more specific responses.

Being in Midland, I am sure you have predator calling in your blood and want to call coyotes. My Savage 22-250 loves 39.0 grs. of Big Game pushing a 55 gr. #1365 Sierra Game King SBT with BR-2's in Win. brass.

Good Hunting/Shooting,

Bob

Thanks guys that helps alot. i am going to try and keep my savage for a stationary gun just becasue of a big scope heavy barrel and bipod. i think praire dogs are going to be that rifle's cup of tea.

and Bob yes i very much so have calling in my blood, i have a Ruger M77V in 22-250 that i have been using for that just because it is alittle lighter and the stock already has some usage scratches on it so im not as afraid to scratch it up.

I have some groups that were shot with three different Savages. All 22-250, using the Sierra bullets in the pic. I don't have any pics of groups using the hornady, but they are very accurate also.

Through the years I keep trying the old 1330 and 1360 against TNTs, V-Max, Blitzkings and BTs and the two continue to come out on top. They are varmint bullets and I can not tell the difference between them and the TNTs, V-Max, BTs and Blitzkings, with respect to terminal performance. I sure hope Sierra doesn't discontinue these two.

Wow those are some great groups. I went out yesterday with some 52 gr sierra matchkings with 39.5 grs of H380 and i was pretty satisfied. i was doing cloverleafs with it but i think i am going to play around with it and try one grain less and maybe one grain more.

50gn Nosler ballistic tips over h380 have worked very well for myself and some friends in various 22-250's of different breeds. Kind of like the old stand by load for us.

My particular 22-250 likes Sierra 55 grain HPBT's best after testing many other weights and makes of bullets. It shoots 3 shots into a 1/4" group at 100 yards.
My load is 32.6 grains of Benchmark with Federal 210M primers, bullets seated .010 off the lands. Rifle is a custom on a 98 Mauser action and a Douglas 26" barrel in a stock I built, with a Canjar single set trigger.
