I know every rifle has its preferences but it was interesting to read in the latest issue of ST that the cheap Win USA 45gr. JHP shot the second best group(.81") out of the 18 loads tested. The rifle was the new CZ 527 with a 24" 1x9 twist. The author tested ammo topped with bullets of 40 to 60 grains only. The best group was with the Horn 40 grain Vmax .59" @100 and 1.83" @ 300yds.
Nice looking rifle BTW and if its throated properly it should have no trouble with the 70 and 80 grainers...

Before I started reloading (again) my Ruger #1V (1/12 twist) loved Federal American Eagle 50 Gr HP's.

My father in law has a ruger .223 and what has shot best for him is the ultramax shells these are remanufactured loaded with a 50 grn nosler ballistic tip sometimes it makes me wish i had a .223 instead. these shot just under and inch with an old 4 power leupold

I use those Winny 45gr./Varmint Pack loads in a NEF HANDI-RIFLE. They shot into .750" for about 20+ groups, I won't fire up the press for this rifle, when I can get this accuracy.

i have used some of those winchester varmits and those are loaded pretty hot, there is a noticable difference in recoil on these verses my handloads or shells from remington or federal. I even get a slightly flattened primer, they say 4000 ft/sec on the box and i believe it, however they seem to shot right at moa out of my ruger.

Dave, where did you read the article? I woukd be interested in checking it out. I own one of those 527 cz varmit rifles. My son a big Savage guy shot my 527 varmit and he had to have one so we have two in the family. They shoots the 45 gr. Win. value pack ok, but I can tell you my friend has a 527 my son and myself and they all shoot 23gr. h322 and a 50 gr. vmax very well. We have shot less than 1/2" groups at 100 with this load. I was not aware of the barrel twist being 1/9. My friend tried some 69 gr. bullets ( Black Hills ) and they key holed.

I found PMC 55gn PSP factory was the most accurate by far in my Savage, before I started handloading...it was heaps cheaper than Remington, Winchester and Federal which I tried in it...none came close...dont know if you can get it in the US...i would assume so.
