In a situation like yours I prefer a Harris Bipod for Sitting position - Bog Pod is #2. Really assists in getting over grass & low vegitation, rocks, etc.

A Camera Tripod works well, too but they're not "Cool" Camo unless you care to spray the aluminum, either but it'll do in a pinch. All you gotta do is use a padded pan or gloved hand for the forearm and be prepared to make & fine tune ultimate shooting position.

O.K - failing those; pretty much any reasonable length (@30") of small diameter PVC, Wooden Dowels; a broomstick cut in half ..... 5 minutes w/a can of spray paint & a couple hours to dry and your're set - just let your imagination run wild. Add a small rubber gasket twisted over the upper end to adjust height and you're ready to Rock & Roll.

I've got a couple of different length sets (6' - .5" diameter & 30" - 3/8" diameter) made out of green plastic/rubber coated planter stakes (WTF-O?) that I pulled outa my Wife's Rose Bed. Add a rubber Vaccum Cleaner gasket twisted to the uper end & you're Golden; well, Ugh, Green anyway. Cheap-o Bamboo planter stakes work great, too!

Even a simple walking staff tucked under one knee & over the other in a sitting position can afford a fine improvised and quite stable shooting platform.

And, Gee, why is Guy like me so "Stick" oriented? Well; I get bored sitting in a Stand for longer than @ an hour, do the Walk-Abouts in the mornings/evenings either after/prior to planting my Ass in a Stand so I get alot of use out all kinds of "Stick" variations.

Have Fun w/your Choice.

Cheers,

+2

but I wouldn't give a guy grief over using it to carry his rifle if he also had a stool,a ditty bag and a couple of critters to boot.

I have just ordered a Bog Pod RLD-3. Anyone else use on.
I had been using a Stoney point sitting - kneeling height ( because I can no longer shoot from prone with my Harris's) but often found on the rolling country I hunt that from seeing an animal and getting to where I could shoot from kneeling meant a lot more ground to cover and cost a lot of shooting oportunities as the extra movement spooked them. Being able to shoot from standing when I first see the animal will mean (should mean) more rabbits in the bag. I have practiced at my range with a home made set to test my theory - capabilities and the 150-200yd that the rabbits usually max out should be shootable.
So who has one and what has been your experience with them.
