My calling partner and I moved the truck we call from at night over to another friend's ranch. We managed to get in some calling. I whistled up a nice grey fox. I have finally decided to get a full body mount done and he made the cut.

i had one mounted carrying a fox squiril - you would me amazed at the coloring of the 2 when side by side. they match almost exactly right down the the black stripes on the side

Congrats Bob! What do the pelts on the southern fox look like? I always wondered if they were significantly "less thick" than the fur on northern animals.

Another question - I'm sure most of us do predator hunting from the ground, but I'm guessing that when shooting from a truck or elevated platform that the holes enter from higher up or on top of the animals - have you had any issues with those kinds of entry holes? I'm a little worried about pelt damage but I really want to try hunting from a treestand at one of my places because of how much extra shooting I could get from it.

erict-In my experience, all predator pelts get thicker and fuller as you move north. That is why they bring more money. I haven't had any trouble when night hunting from a high rack with the angles. I can still hit a rattle snake from up there. It is more a matter of knowing how your gun is sighted in and shoots. As far as fur friendly, it depends more you your caliber and bullet choice. Foxes and bobcats are small and thin skinned.
