I wanted to let all the members out there know what a fine American Company Marlin Firearms is. Several months ago, I returned for the third time a Marlin 882SV 22 mag to the factory. Unlike my other 22 mag from Marlin, this rifle has always grouped like a 12 gauge shotgun. When I returned it to Marlin, I took off the Synthetic Stock that it came from the factory with, basically just to save a little on the shipping costs. I included a couple of targets from 50yds shot with the rifle to show how bad it continued to shoot ( 6 and 7 inch groups at 50 yds.) I included a note indicating I had already replaced the rifle with another Marlin. I had also bought one of the new 17 Rimfires with the Stainless Barrel and Laminated stock. I made a request for Marlin to replace the barrel with a 17 Rimfire barrel, asked them to look at the trigger since it was not a real good trigger on that rifle. I told them that I had a friend who was handicapped after an accident, who lives on $600.00 a month Social Security, but the thing she wanted most in life was a 17 Hornady Rimfire Mag and she loved the Marlin that I had bought. I had indicated that I would be more than happy to be billed for barrel change and working on the trigger and that I planned to give the rifle as a present to my handicapped friend. A few weeks later I received my rifle back from Marlin. Not only had they replaced the barrel with a New 17HRM stainless barrel, but they also did a fantastic trigger job on it. To top it off, they installed a new Gray Laminate stock on the rifle, and sent a picture of a 5 shot target on their indoor range with the rifle. It was a 5 shot one hole group at 50 yds. In the box was no bill for any of the work done. I called Marlin and got ahold of the technician who had worked on the rifle, and asked what did I owe Marlin. Their response was since I was planning to give it to a Handicapped shooter who could not really afford one, but wanted one in the worst way, that they hoped she enjoyed it all Courtesy of the Marlin Firearm Company! This sort of company not only deserves our business as shooters and hunters, but deserves our appreciation for being one of the few companies that continue the tradition of caring for the public and those less fortunate than the rest of us. It did not cost them a lot of money, but it made a lasting impression on a lot of people who know about it. And in a corporate world ran by accountants, their investment in a little public good, has earned them more customer loyalty from people who know of this, that a large advertising budget would have earned them. Just wanted my fellow shooters to know about the good deeds of the people at Marlin.!!!

Hey seafire, First off, Welcome Aboard! That sure does speak well for Marlin. I've had quite a few of their rifles and even a great M120 pump shotgun long ago. All of my current Marlins shoot just great. In fact, the M880SS 22LR is even more accurate than a HIGH $$$.00 Kimber I once owned. Sure hope your friend enjoys the rifle.

Actually, it speaks well of both of you. Very well done! OK, Marlin make a high end left-handed bolt action 17 HMR and I'll buy it.

My dealings with Marlin has been top shelf, a couple of years ago I went on a buffalo hunt in Montana we were to leave on a Wednesday mornining. The friday before I went to the range with my hunting partner to make sure all was well. I was to use my old 1895 in 45-70, well after I shot the gun for the first time it wouldn't eject the empty cartridge, closer inspection revealed that the ejector was missing (it will fall out when you remove the lever and bolt). To make a long story short I called the factory as soon as I got home but they had alredy closed for the weekend fortunately they had an answering machine for which I left an urgent message describing the gun and my circumstances. On Tuesday morning I recieved the part by overnite express at no charge....first class and from now on I look to them first for any item I am in need of.

Bravo! That's wonderful to hear. Among us target shooters, we sometimes hear similar "good news" stories about hungry, new, up-and-coming companies who are eager to carve out a piece of the market. But Marlin is an established company - it's obvious by this account why! Good job, Marlin! I hope it'll rub off on some of our other established companies. Redial

I just wanted to let you know that Seafire's story is very true. I am the lucky recipient of that Marlin .17 rimfire. This is the first Marlin firearm that I have ever owned. After admiring Seafire's Marlin .17 rimfire, I never thought I would be able to afford one. I broke my back 3 1/2 years ago and S.S. disability doesn't pay much. But the real amazing thing is Marlin. They went above and beyond to make sure I had a very nice accurate rifle. (I am a stickler for perfection.)It is not often in today's world that a company would spend the time and money to help a disabled person realize such a wonderful gift. And as far Seafire, well, he's just like that. He is always lending a hand to those who need him. I am not the only person he has helped. He even takes me hunting when others don't want a woman or disabled person (or both) tagging along. Thank you to Seafire and Marlin for my wonderful accurate .17 rimfire. Kathy

I forgot to mention another Seafire story. I sold four guns in order to purchase Savage's new adjustable trigger in a beautiful wood laminated stock fluted stainless steel barrel 223. I was still $150.00 short of having enough money to purchase the Savage even after selling my other guns. Seafire donated the $150.00 in order for me to have the new rifle. More amazing he bought two of the guns I was selling to give them to another friend who has children that couldn't afford guns. Kathy
