I don't intend to start a flaming war or anything but thought that with the recent discussion of the valiant little HMR and the strong responses that these discussions bring on some boards I'd have a whack at the subject. The story is that I got a call at work last Friday AM from my dad. He was very excited so I knew that something was up. When he got to the story he revealed that he had just whacked a coyote on my B-I-L's farm. The doggie presented a broadside and he hit it just behind trailing border of the shoulder blade. At the shot the doggie yelped while jumping straight into the air. It turned 180 and trotted off toward the abandoned rock quarry that lies behind the farm. It ended it's life piling up at the edge of a small bit of woods in the middle of the hay field about 80yds from where it was shot. Now as an ethical kinda person I've gently reasoned with my dad that the little 17 isn't the best choice for the coyote. I've splained to him that beyond 100yds, and with a perfect shot at that, he shouldn't whack one. And then he goes and whacks one at 150yds.............. I still wouldn't take an angling shot myself but...

I am fairly sure that the 17 is more then enough to kill one at reasonable distances...I just don't like tracking game "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"
