Of course you are correct. My reply was a bit feeble. The quality of two air-guaged Harts and a Shillen is hard to beat. With out knowing the barrel's history I guess the question is, are you gonna try to resusitate a shot out barrel? For example, a barrel with 2000 launchings of high velocity bullets (3500f/s+ muzzle velocity) and regular cleanings may very well be done for. A barrel with only 300 rounds logged is worth rescue treatment even with zero cleanings. Seems to be quite a few votes in favor of WipeOut; least amount of work with good results. Sounds like it is worth a try.

The factory barrel on my Ruger 77v 22-250 has about 6,000 rounds of 3800+ per second ammo through it. It gets cleaned about 3 times a season or every 200-300 rounds with Shooters Choice and Sweets at the end of the year. It doesn't seem to copper much at all and that is shooting naked Hornady SPSX's through it. Still shoots .2's with thrown together ammo with no case prep at all. The throat looks sharp and the seating depth has stayed the same. I have never fired more than 10 shots consecutively to really get it hot. Would you consider this barrel suspect for being worn out? I consider it just broke in. It always has shot well. The very first group with factory Remington ammo was going five shots into the same hole when I thought maybe I was missing the paper completely and held to the side just a bit and ruined a perfect one hole group.
