Does the extra speed of the 22-250 over 223 really matter? If I want to save the pelts, will the 22-250 cause too much damage? Also do any of you recommend any ammo for these two calibers?

If you're interested in pelts you may want to consider the .17 cal centerfires. Alternativly in .22 bore go for light, fast and frangible bullets such as the 30-40 gr.weights. Ballistic Tips by Nosler would be one. The .22-250 would not be my choice for pelt preservation but as I'm not concerned with it...it is a wonderful varmint cartridge.
