Thinking about handloading .224bullets/sabots into a 30-30 for varmints and a easy recoiling starter load for the kids. Does anyone have experience with these and if so were they accurate? Deke.

Deke, I tried them when they first came out. Loaded them in a few different .308 calibers(.300 Savage, .30-06, etc.) but accuracy wasn't what I would call very good. I found that with my kids they got discouraged when they didn't hit what they were aiming at. Why not load up a nice mild load in your .30-30 using 110 gr. bullets instead. Better yet, get a good varmint rifle in .223 and teach the kids to reload. Lawdog
