What is the difference between those calibers: accuracy and long range potencial. What is the
best rate of twist for 223AI (50,55 gn bullets).

Fox all things considered they are near the same performance wise. You will find that the 223AI will have a lot less throat erosion and will far outlast the 22-250. If you are only going to use 40 to 55 Gr. bullets 1 in 14 twist will do it.

thanks oleman. I was thinking about to buy a sako vixen 222 heavy barrel and have it rechambered to 223AI. it has 14 rate of twist so it seems to work.

You will not go wrong with the .223AI. I have found the 40 gr. Balistic Tip to be the best in my rifles. I am getting 3930 fps. and under .5 in. groups with a load consisting of Win. brass. Win. Pri. 28.5 gr. N-133 powder. This is a full case and shows no pressure signs in my rifles. Fire forming loads in the new Win. brass with 27 gr. of N-133 go 3716 fps. in my rifle. Fire form load groups .5 to .6 I have two rifles in .223 AI both are 700 Rem. with 23" #4 contour Shilen stainless barrels. This is the absolute best prairie dog cartridge I have found. With the .223 AI you get the speed of a 22-250 without the muzzel blast, recoil, and barrel heat. Go for it you will like it.

I have a rem 700 bdl sporter cal 222 very accurate rifle but it wont stabilze 50 and 55 gn ballistic tips have to use 40 gn or flat base 50 gn. my goal with the 223AI is to reach further than with the 222.

Some common sense please. The capacity of an improved .223 Rem is only a few grains more than the standard case. Just look at a .223 and try to imagine how much more it could be blown out. It's not much to the eye or to reality. In the end the "improved" version will produce 110 fps more and that's all.

Run a comparison to the 22/250 but shoot 55 gr bullets out of the Varminter and you will find that at 300 yards the .223's run out of steam and the 22/250 at that point has 50% more energy.

Just comparing the 223 to it's blown out version and at 300 yds the perfomance numbers are nearly identical. For instance the spread in wind drift between the two is 0.3" with a 10 mph wind at 90 degrees.

Now if any of you reading this have not had an "improved" cartridge yet I think you should get one made up. This is the only way to get it out of your system. It's like telling a toddler not to touch a hot stove. They do it anyway.

Been shooting 50gr V-Max outta four seperate 223AI's at 3750fps now,for a good long while. If that sucked,I'd park them.

Beings it doesn't,it is the .224 centerfire I utilize most and she's relegated a bunch of higher capacity .224's to the back of Ball.

That is the reality of the situation,in my closets..........
