I want to thank everyone who contributed to this. Put in my order today to build a custom 6mm Remington. The information I received on this post was a big part of making the decision which my gunsmith is also in favor of. Thanks again.

I purchased a Remington VLS in 6mm Rem. early in the year, and had it glass bedded and barrel floated before even taking it to the range for testing. Ooooh it's a demon on long range woodchuck. It shoots well under .5" (5 at 100yds.) and is a holy terror with the Nosler 70gr. Bal. Tips. I'm not happy about the weight, around 11lbs with scope, or having to shell out the extra money for the gunsmith to get it in prime shooting condition, but at least I feel I got a very accurate rifle for my money.
I have a Savage 110 in .243Win. which is lighter to carry, fairly accurate and shoots the same bullets. Sierras 85gr. HPBT is also quite accurate in both rifles, but a bit of overkill on woodchuck. Best wishes.
