Guys Just got a Savage 10FP and put an Elite 4200 6x24 scope on it. I working up loads so far, the Sierra 55BTHP with Benchmark is easily the best combo. Have tried the 50 Sierra Spitzer, the 55 Hornady sp., 55 V-max for bullets. Varget, H4895, Benchmark, and getting ready for H335. All will go well under 3/4, but the Benchmark BTHP load is just one ragged hole! Question is, the Sierra BTHP is listed as a gameking bullet. Do I need to worry about ricochet(SP?)? It's really amazing to watch through that big scope and see the hole gradually getting very slightly larger with every shot. Anybody tried these on the dogs?

Have used them in the past, and was satisfied with the results.

I used them quite a bit out of my Savages - but on eastern woodchucks. They performed exactly as expected. The BTHP was the most accurate bullet in my rifles too but I used moderate charges of H335. It's so ballistically inefficient that there's really no sense in pushing it too fast. At 3050 - 3100, it's a mighty useful rig! Redial

Super accurate out of my Remington, used them once on P-Dogs in Wyoming. I use them here in PA regularly on groundhogs, never lost one yet, knocks them right down. Sometimes quite explosive, sometimes not. They are quite accurate and cheaper than other premium bullets. Try them, you'll like them. I shoot the 55 HPBT with 27.0 grains of Varget for 3200 FPS out of my 24" barrelled Remington 700.

Thanks fro the replies. I ran the load through my ballistics software, and as was stated above, they loose out to a spitzer in a big way for trajectory. Guess I'll have to find something with a better BC that still gets under 1/2" for the long range work. Gettin spendy trying all the combinations, but lots of fun!
