never had this problem before.Wife was in the barn the other day, saw what she thought was a huge rat like animal.Today my son is cutting grass and running near the barn the same animal. I looked around an i saw it,a fast moving chuck. He must like the barn area. It seems to go into the brush and corn fields. Not wanting to shoot the horses or hit buildings, etc and reading that they are hard to trap is there other ways to get him ?

I have a friend who has caught several of them in live traps before. I dont know what he uses for bait though. I can check w/ him. I would get a good quality air rifle and take him out that way myself.

You can catch em in live traps or steel traps pretty easy. I usually use apples for bait in live traps but my nephew used bananas. I don't know where that idea came from but it works. Just set the steel traps at the edge of the burrow. Make sure to stake the trap with the chain stretched away from the burrow entrance as they will burry themselve in the entrance if they can get in there. God Bless, Louis

Find the burrow, set a conabar over the burrow with the trigger at the bottom of the hole, no bait needed. Look for a second entrance they usually have at least two.
