I will be purchasing a rifle in this caliber in the next few weeks and was wondering about where to zero it. I was going to try sighting it in dead on at 100 yds. Is this sensible or should I try something else? I have never fired this cartridge and any input would be greatly appreciated. My primary targets will be ground sqirrels with the occasional woodchuck or jackrabbit thrown in for good measure.

I've got mine (CZ452) sighted 1 1/2" high @ 100yds. You'll be amazed at the way it will shoot. Once I got mine dialed in, popping ground squirrels out to 200yds was not hard to do.

I just got my hmr a couple weeks ago, I have gone thru 200 rounds and I am in love with it. My gun is sighted it at 100 yards. I can cloverleaf 5 shots on the bench. I am going to take craigs advice and sight in 1 1/2" to get some more distance out of her. You are going to love it.

What is the zero range with the 17HMR sighted in at 1" high at 100, and 1 1/2 inches high at 100? Mine is currently dead on at 100 but might like to try 1" high to gain a little.

one of the many scopes that have drop compensators or a good old mil dot scope will really make a difference when playing with the 17 HMR...

Weaver makes their 3 x 9 with a Mildot set up... as does Bushnell in several models and powers for a real reasonable price...

I had a BSA one on one of my 17s, but the target turrents keep coming apart.... so I won't recommend them....

They are definitely a 200 yd rifle for sage rats....

a few guys with mil dots, I have observed taking sage rats even further out...with pretty good consistency...

I'd shoot mine alot more often if the ammo wasn't so pricey...

Mine wears a Cabelas Pine Ridge 17 Tactical. Sight in at 100 and turn the knob out to 300. Very easy, accurate and consistent. Cheap too, forgot cheap.

Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics; even if you win, you're still retarded.

Laner: Only a "retard" would compare arguing on the internet with the Special Olympics in order - SOMEHOW - to try to make a "funny" at the expense of handicapped folks!
You sir, are the retard!
And the funny part about that is YOU choose to display your stupidity publicly!
LOL - at you!
