Where can I buy some pre made snares that will help me with a coyote problem?

Try www.snareone.com ask for snares with sure-locks. Newt will make legal snares for your state.

Ann' I wish you were closer to MT. We hunt coyotes just about every weekend and have a blast. Good luck with the snares.

I would much prefer to hunt the coyotes but they are real nocturnal here. I purchased a dozen snares from Snare One and Newt sent me a book with them. I boiled my snares yesterday and set up half of them. I set the others today, all based on the instructions.

Actually this was quite fun as I had to study trails and look for places these animals use regularly. This has been easy since we have had record amounts of snow this year so I have had time to make notes.

I made sets for coyote and fox as both seem to want to eat my chickens. My cat Zena assisted me, the snares are too high for her to get snared, fortunately for her. But she regularly accompanies me when I hunt on the property. I kept my dog penned so she would not want to visit my sets.

Now, if I set these things right I should have some results soon.

Would you mond carrying the camera along next time you visit your snare line? I'd sure be interested in seeing some pics of snare sets, and I imagine there are some more that would be interested too. A pic of snared 'yotes would be nice, too!

Snaring is an art form. I used to snare coyotes back when it was legal to trap in Colorado. It is not a simple thing to accomplish and takes a lot of learning and practice. Be sure you don't accidentally snare a deer. Do your snares have deer locks on them?

Yep, got the locks, these were made specifically to my state regs. I also set them with branches placed to make the deer go around if any use the trail.

Good for you Ann, now you need to complete the MI furbearer grand slam. Beaver, otter, muskrat, mink, fisher, marten, bobcat, red fox, gray fox, badger, raccoon and possum. Without doing it your life will never be complete

I've often thought there should be a couple of these offered for the BOW program, like a nice 3 day weekend thing.

I have been snaring Coyotes, Coons, Porcupines and Bobcats for about a year now. Unfortunately, I also snare wild hogs which makes a bit of a mess around the snare site. Never actually seen one snared, but I assume only a hog could break one of these.

Good luck. It makes a warm fuzzy place in my heart to see a yote in a snare.
