I guided an client from Washington three weeks ago.

We went to a place where we were about 6000 ft above sea level.

It was very cold (according to Canadian Standards a nice evening) but the jackal was very active. In total I called in eight jackal and the client shot five.

The first jackal was lost in the grass and I spend about an hour looking for the jackal and I finally found the animal because I could smell him about 25 yards up wind. :shrug:Incredible but true.

On our second last stand close to a pond I had eyes coming in after about three minutes of calling.

The shot was solid and what a surprise when I went out to pick up the "jackal" and found a monster of a serval. :shocked:

Unfortunately I had problems with my camera and I used the clients camera. We had great pictures of all the animals until the client formatted the memory card. :duh: :madder:

The picture of the serval was taken with my cell phone camera. When I picked up the animal by the hind feet and lift him shoulder high the front feet was still touching the ground. It weighed about 40lbs.

Jakkals: Gerhard, thanks for the interesting post and photos! Shame you all had the troubles with the cameras!
Your client appears pretty well dressed against the cold there! I was born and raised in Washington state (where your client is from) and I have several knit wool hats just like the one your client is wearing. They even provide some warmth when wet as all folks from western Washington know to well.

I use a 22K Hornet.

40gr VMax works great on the varmits to 150 meters. Shot placement is the important factor.
