Just a reminder to not touch the ground squirrels, prairie dogs, etc. Yesterday a domestic cat in Hart Flat, California was found carrying the Bubonic Plague bacteria. The family that owns the cat is undergoing preventative treatment now.

In the last few years rodents carrying both Bubonic and Pnuemonic Plague bacteria have been found in a number of western states. Human deaths have occured in California and Texas.

Someone gathered a huge pile of dead ground squirrels in our campsite near the CA border in April, for a comparison of what the .223 does vs the 17HMR.

Then that someone left the area and we kept camping. After a few freezing nights, the fleas left the squirrels and got into my sleeping bag. Now I don't feel so good CRYBABY

Thanks for the heads-up. I have another reason to resent the many neighbors here who feed squirrel. My neighborhood is grossly overpopulated with tree rats.
