Late last Friday afternoon I sent off an E-mail to the Redding Reloading Company inquiring about dies for the new 17 Remington Fireball - in specific I asked if their present 17 MachIV dies would suffice for reloading the 17 Remington Fireball.
I told them I would be getting a new 17 Remington Fireball Rifle ASAP and needed to know what dies to buy for this Rifle (caliber).
I got an E-mail reply promptly this morning and I will post their answer here for any interested parties.

Reply: "Hi Dale.
Thank you for using Redding Reloading Equipment. We’ll be ordering tooling to make 17 REM FIREBALL dies this week. They should be available in 12-16 weeks.
The dimensions of the 17 MACH IV and 17 REM FIREBALL are very close, but not identical. They’re enough different that we’ll be offering different die sets.
I stayed in Dillon a few years back while visiting Bannack, and I hunted elk a couple of years ago south of Ennis. Nice country"!
End of reply.

Well I guess I will be buying the "17 Remington Fireball" dies as opposed to another set of 17 MachIV dies for my "new" Rifle!

Dale, I called Remington last week to ask about the 17 Fireball. I had a nice conversation with the rep as she indicated the rifles are in full production now and would start to show up at dealers by the end of feb. The answer on brass was not so good though, probably not until next year until we see brass. Guess we'll just have to buy factory ammo for a while. I'm looking forward to see what this round will do.

Jbhewitt: I am very excited about this new caliber and the Rifle I hope to buy it in - the Remington 700 VSF!
Thanks for the production scheduling update.
A further inquiry to the Redding folks to see if I could get on their list for the first 17 Remington Fireball dies brought a response this morning. The respondent had some great suggestions for me and I am now in the process of going through Russ Haydon's Shooters Supply in Gig Harbor, Washington (toll free order line 1-877-663-6249) to order my 17 Remington Fireball dies.

Butchbloc: Yes I hear you! I had to suffer the indignity of BUYING factory ammo back when the 204 Ruger was new and I needed SOMETHING to feed my 3 204 Ruger Rifles! It was a bit pricey and "gored" my ego somewhat but I muddled through that, somehow.
I guess I COULD dip into my lifetime suppy of 221 Remington Fireball brass and see if that can be "crunched down" into 17 Remington Fireball ammo - safely?
You know I sometimes wonder if the various manufacturers of arms and ammo play "gun nuts" (like me!), for fools anymore? The way they string us along and tempt us with rave reviews and articles that tweak our curiosity and get us revved up for something new and "better" (ahuh-huh ?).
Oh well I love my 17 MachIV custom Varmint Rifle so much I just have to have one of these 17 Remington Fireballs!
Gophers coming soon! Gotta get ready.
Gotta sell my last Honda 90 to get money for a quality scope, dies, rings, bases, gun case, ammo, brass and of course to help out on the Rifle itself!
Strange hobby this - but it keeps me out of saloons, opium dens, gambling joints, houses of ill repute and away from other nefarious types of conduct!
