Ammo shortage

This afternoon, I went into a local Wal Mart. While there, I thought I might pick up a couple of boxes of ammo.

When I saw the display case, I was astounded. It was empty except for two boxes of 22-250 and one box of 7 mm. The clerk said it has been selling like never before.

I wonder why?

Stopped in at Wal Mart in Ukiah last week on my way south.
Same thing, although they had plenty of shotshells.
The reason why is spelled OBAMA.

There is no ammo shortage, the factories are going full blast....

it is just many retailers sales of it and components are up 500 to 1000 % or more...

can't blame the military.. strictly consumers buying anything that hits the shelves whether they need it or not.. if they don't need it they figure they can trade it for something that they can use...

Well, I would call it a shortage.

I shoot for Fiocchi and called them last week to try to get some .223 ammo. Jackie says, "I hope you put that new .223 you have under the bed because it'll be a long time till you get to shoot it!"

The day after Obama's election they sold 30 million rounds of .223 and it's all on backorder. They have "0"

In all of 2008 they sold 10 million rounds.

Yes, there is a shortage if you define a shortage as not being able to keep up with demand..............

So really, what everyone seems to be saying, the shortage is only with what's not on store shelves. It went somewhere, right?

4/11/09 drive from Seattle to Bend Or. today, made stops at Bi-Marts in Yakima, Madras and Bend, no primers, no 22 rimfires except CB's, a few large caliber hunting cartridges available, a few not so popular reloading powders available & to top it off, just go to Gun Broker right now and see one brick of Federal 205M primers way over $100..... asked at those stores, not necessarily a case of hoarding, but stores have not been getting primers for over 2 months.......r in s.
