Well, I wanted to get a Savage Predator, but even I was able to convince myself, I have plenty of 223s and don't need another one... This development combined with helping a forum member from another forum,. with some of my experiences on camo... So I did some research and picked a digital miltary camo pattern to use as a model for the color scheme.. and I have several Ruger paddle stocks laying around surplus... well that turned out good, so I tried to match the same on a barreled action that is a refugee from the scrap heap, needing some parts, even tho it works fine as a single shot... well that looked cool, and so I did a surplus BSA scope that was gotten at Walmart 6 or 7 yrs ago, and has lived on the top of a 10/22 all this time, but recently replaced... So then I have done a Hogue Rubber stock to use with the Ruger instead of the Paddle stock, for varmint shooting... I have taken a batch of pictures to see how it works with various backgrounds.. but the digital camo poncho, and then with various bushes and trees in the front yard... anmyway, the whole thing has possibilities.. if nothing else, consider this whole set up is a refuge from the parts pile.. it is better put to use this way, than for parts... http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2089810852 any way, cheers seafire

You can get very, very close to digital camo by using a sea sponge to apply the paint. I just did my calling gun over. I used grey and brown over black chip gaurd. looks real close to natural gear.

Gidday Seafire, That is a good looking rifle. Does the fact that you have called it the Predator rifle mean that you can only use it on predators. Or is the rifle itself the predator because it may be pretty useful as a walkabout rifle for sage rats or on Canterbury Highcountry hares for when you visit here . That rifle could make some serious fun mate. Happy Hunting Hamish

Thanks Guys.. Yeah Blueprinted.. I know about using sponge.. I wasn't trying to duplicate the digital camo,.. I was just using the colors in that pattern as a model.. Hamish, I called this a Predator, basically as a 'spoof' on Savages lastest model that they call the "Predator" which is a totally camo'ed Savage Rifle.. down to the trigger guard and bolt.. This rifle is a refugee from the parts pile...and it was all done with low cost stuff laying around.. cheap scope that has served on a 10/22 for quite a few years.. a cheap take off stock,, where a decent one was substituted... But the rifle will find some utility work in the field... if nothing else for grins and giggles... I will probably do something else, with better quality to it at a later time...
