Hi guys, considering building one of these. Anybody out there use one for their varmint rig? 99% chance mines going to be a "Barnard" action and "Trueflight Barrel" combo with some sort of laminate stock, type rig. General comments and opinions welcome on this. Photos good too!! www.barnard.co.nz Thanks in advance Runas War is inevitable, if idiots are in charge of countries

I'd be interested in what twist barrel you will use, and what bullet. Thanks, Don

Our shop recently built a rifle similar to the one you're considering: Barnard P action, True-Flite barrel, Mastin F Class stock--with Vee block bedding, a drop-in--in 6.5-47. The new owner hasn't had much of a chance to shoot it yet, but did make it to the 600 yard range a couple of weeks ago. He went through the usual BS of mounting a new scope, and some rough sighting in. His second five-shot group measured two inches. And a fraction. At 600 yards. In the wind. No load development. Those varmints don't stand a chance. flaco

I had one built a few years ago. Used a Nesika J model action. Lee Six BR stock. Douglas 13.5 in twist barrel. Shoots like a house afire with lighter bullets. It does better than I can anyway. muck

Don, twist is likely to be a 1-10, 28" in length , regardless of brand I would like to use 70 grs which should be leaving the tube doing around 3300 fps, this should has a fantastic SPLASH effect!!, but more importantly be less affected by wind This has go alot going for it, not that we should put a price on these things...but it appears it is going to be marginally more expensive to load for than the 223. Nothing wrong with my 223, just getting tired of wearing the same suit. Time for a change. Regards Runas War is inevitable, if idiots are in charge of countries
