I own both a heavy barreled .22-250 and a .243Win. and honestly do not see much difference between them.
Both reach out about the same distance. If we're talking about a dedicated varmint rifle, there's little to choose
from. Best wishes.

Dr.Lou,my 17Rem seems to like 26.0 gr.of Win.760 with 25gr.BergerMatch.Lot of shooters prefer the 30grainer which may be better but have not had the need to go there.
On coyote everthing depends on proper bullet placement.
My longest kill is in the area of 325yds but have done quite a few at 250yds.In general I feel very comfortable with a clean kill on anything 200yds and under and always try to get the animal within those limitations. This rifle and load has been kind to me and provided a lot of enjoyable hours of calling and shooting coyotes at all distances.
