Does anybody here shoot 69 MK's in their 22-250? I am having one built with a 1 in 9 twist and I'm looking for load possiblities. Or anything close to that. 70vlds etc.

Thanks
Mike

I wore out a 1-9" chambered for a large wildcat .224". It shot the 69 MK very well but that's not a good varmint bullet.

My barrel would not shoot the 80 MK or the 75 gr AMax either.

What's the primary application for the rifle?

If it's general use I would get a 1-12 for a .224" and if heavier bullets are desired then just get a 6mm.

I shoot Sierra 80-grainers out of an 8" twist .22-250 rifle. 37.5gr of WC 872 to make it like a .223, and 37.5 gr of WC 852 (slow) to make it reach all the way out. The 852 load is at or near max in cool weather, and should be approached with caution. You should find the 872 load to be quite accurate.

Sierra says the 80-grainer is for 8" and faster twist rifles only, however, some posters have reported success with slower twists. Anyway, there are other, slightly smaller bullets that should work quite well.

Bulk boxes of Sierras are quite uniform and economical.

Hello,
I also shot for sometime a 22-250 w/ 1/8 twist Krieger barrel and used the Sierra 80 grain w/ Win. Brass, 210M primers, Varget @31grains for a velocity of slightly over 3000' and it was very accurate indeed. Wore that one out and had another one built, had outstanding English walnut stock, Krieger, etc., etc., and only shot if very few rounds and a fellow shooter spotted it and like a dummy sold it, but it did end up in appreciative hands I am sure.
Outstanding combination.
