Ok guys, I just got a new rifle and i'm going to put the Harris bipod that i have on another rifle on it. The one i have now is a short harris bi-pod (can't remember the exact dimensions but you can pretty much only use it for shooting prone.) I am putting this bi-pod on my long range varmint rifle. It is coming off of my .22-250. I am looking for a longer bi-pod to put on my .22-250 so i can use it while sitting. I'm looking for the most STABLE long bi-pod out there. Let me know what you think!

Ruck, in my experience none of the longer bipods are very stable. I only own Harris's but have used a few others. very wobbly, but I am 6'8" and none of these fit me very well. Just my 2 cents!

if it dosent burn gunpowder, diesel fuel or gasoline, it's of no interest to me!

Andy, Ruck ain't 6'8"!!!! He's kinda like me....a little lower to the ground!!!
Anyway, Ruck, the Harris 13-25" model is probably about the best one out there as far as a sitting bi-pod goes for varminting. I haven't used the "Explorer Tripod"(Mid-South catalog page 207) but it could be a fairly stable shooting platform! The Compct model extends 16"-38" and only weighs 20 oz. Sells for $63.17.....might be worth looking into! GHD

The harris patent must of expired because Outers makes a copy now that is just as good for half the price. I have both and can not tell the differants.

If you don't mind some weight, the Versa Pod is outstanding. The legs are spring loaded and have positive adjustments, the pod is an easy on and off. The only downside is that it is all steel and heavy. For varmint shooting, no bid deal, for hunting it is just too dang heavy.

I wouldn't trade my Harris #S-25 for anything I've seen around. From a sitting position, I'm rock solid w/it. I really don't go hunting anything without it on the rifle-deer, hogs, yotes. I would forget my ammo before that bipod.
