Part of the reason I am bombarding the forum with question about 6PPC loads is because, whatever I settle with I have to order in....then load it all, then test it, then decide on a load etc, etc. I may be leaving for this trip at the end of Febuary and with Italian rythmn, I probably wouldn't even have recieved the bullets by then. So, worst case scenario; it really isn't that bad because I just found a box of MatchKings and a box of B-tips. Both 70grainers. Of the 2, which would be the more fragile therefore less likely to exit from an animal like a large(I hope)Canadian coyote? Thanks to you all for you patience and helpful guidance, I have never really tried to develop a "specific" load for anything before, - it's a good thing this forum exists.

Well, in my opinion, the 70 grain Ballistic Tip is the more fragile of the two bullets you have asked about. I have shot lots of both of these in 6mm rifles and can comment a little on the performance. The 70 grain Sierra HPBT is THE most accurate 6mm bullet I have ever tried, bar none! In my current 6mm Remington with a custom Shilen barrel with a 1 in 12 twist those bullets over H 4350 will shoot honest to god quarter inch groups! However, having shot a fair number of ground squirrels and prairie dogs with them, I find the terminal performance pretty poor. When shooting prairie dogs one bullet might make a mess all over the prairie then the next might just pass through like a solid from a 22 long rifle. The 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips, however, make a mess of a varmint EVERY TIME! I guess I have not shot any coyotes with them, but feel they would do quite well. They should get inside, come apart and cause lots of damage without exiting. ( I shoot LOTS of coyotes, but just have not tried this combo. I usually use one of my 22-250's or my 6mm loaded with 80 grain Sierra Blitz bullets.) Good Luck, R F

Since you'll be shooting a 6 PPC a bullet to consider is the 65 V-Max by Hornady. The BT style bullets are far more FRANGIBLE than the Matchkings in my experience, and virtually as accurate. For what it's worth.

They do it's called a Blitzking, This is the stats for the 70gn 6mm BlitzKing: Sectional Density .196 Ballistic Coefficients: .299 @ 3200 fps and above .288 between 3200 and 2600 fps .278 between 2599 and 2200 fps .257 between 2199 and 1800 fps .237 @ 1799 fps and below If I can get some of these, I then I may have my answer...

When I have used matchkings in my 22-250 they have shot very well but don't expand for crap. So my vote would go to the BT.

Have used Sierra's 70 BTHP on coyotes extensively. My old Ruger 77V 6mm Rem. produced excellent performance from the Matchking version. Exit holes were manageable. But when I drove it a little faster (from a 700 6MM AI) it exited violently every time (broadside, of course). The only bullets that ever gave me acceptable (barely) performance from the AI were the 55 Nosler, and their 85 gr. Gameking. The end to this though is that there are toomany factors to ever tell how well any particular bullet will work out of any particular gun on fur. You just have to try them.

I'd just like to point out that the Sierra Matchking and the Sierra BTHP bullets are two different bullets, the Matchking being designed for perfecft accuracy, the other being a varmint hunting bullet. I love the Nosler BT's on yotes! Yardbird

While Canadian coyotes are somewhat larger than the Southwestern varieties that I am accustomed to, unless your shot is lengthwise rather than broadside, either bullet is likely to exit. The Nosler will expand very rapidly, but its solid base does penetrate a surprising amount. Sierra Matchkings, according to anecdotal evidence, are somewhat unpredictable in terms of terminal behavior when used on game.
