Hey guys, just called the Surprise Valley Chamber of commerce to leave my info to get the registration packet for the annual squirrel roundup. I was wondering what other options somebody in California has for going and shooting a whole lot of little varmints. I have heard that there are spots in Northern Cal where they are abundant on public land. Also have heard about places where you go and pay and can shoot lots of ammo in a day. any leads fellas? Around Cedarville and Ft. Bidwell up by Alturas, there are plenty of ground squirrels and plenty of public land available or farmers that are more than happy to have people shoot them. If not there, cross into Oregon at Lakeview. Plenty there and the farmers are great about letting people shoot them as long as you are not an idiot and shoot their irrigation pipes. Dorris in Calif or the Bonanza area east of Klamath Falls is also another good spot. I shoot a 5,000 acre spread and all I did was ask and was given permission for the season. All they asked is I call ahead and let them know I was going to be on the spread. For me season isn't until March, but I am already loading up 223 ammo again. I look forward to it, much more than deer season anymore./ cheers seafire | |||
