All you KY guys need to tell me how to distinguish a Somerset Coyote from a Berea Coyote???

Spotted another one yesterday as I was headed Northbound just before getting to the 71 milemarker. The pelt seemed to be in good condition and thick. Didn't stop to look it over, but apparently didn't sustain much damage to it's outside (other than being run over). [Wink]

I figured since it was "Northbound" it was probably a Somerset Coyote that some of you all scarred off due to your "shooting expertice". [Big Grin]

There must be Coyotes all over Central KY. How do you guys get to your vehicles without tripping over all of them???

Spotted 3 more today on the trip back to the Carolinas.

First one was on I-64 at about the Eastbound 38 mile marker. Just before the Weigh Station.

#2 was near the I-75 Southbound 64 mile marker.

And #3 was nearly straddeling the Southbound state line at Jelico, TN.

Haven't seen a dead Deer on any of the trips. Are the Coyotes getting them or are there fewer of them than the Coyotes?

Hey 7mm/08, How far is the Range you use from Lexington? Does it have 300yds (or more) availability?

Hey Guys, I'm down in Richmond. The Range out at Bluegrass Sportsman's League has a 250 or 300 yard rifle range and is out Wilmore way down Harrodsburg Road about 30 minutes west of Lexington. They are on 1500 acres and are a superb facility. I went there yesterday for a Cowboy Action shoot run by Fox Bend Peacemakers and they also hold IPSC and IDPA shoots monthly. Sundays are "open" days for non-members to attend events like that. If things haven't changed in the past few years, they also sponsor Father-Son deer hunts on the property during the season. Membership is $60 a year with a $120 "initiation fee" the first year.
A bud of mine and I are looking for somewhere to varmint hunt in the area. If anyone knows of a place, please let us know.

Hey Ruger#1, Thanks for the link. That's exactly the kind of facility I'm looking for. I really enjoyed checking out their web site and have saved it to my favorites.

I talked with a couple of buddies in LaGrange (22 miles Northeast of Louisville on I-71) and they mentioned another Range between Fort Knox and Louisville. Can't remember the name of it at the moment. Anyway, I'd rather not have to fight the traffic to go completely around Louisville to go to the Range.

Once I get settled in, we will all have to get together. Probably be right after the Derby for me.

Try not to stomp those Coyotes as you all wade through them going to work. [Big Grin]

No prob HC, there's also a place south of Louisville called Knob Creek. I've never been there but once a year they have a full auto meet.. you can shoot everything (for a price) from an Uzi to a 20mm AA gun from what I've heard.
Re the coyotes, we keep seeing really big ones out in the fields during broad daylight.. I dunno what they're feeding them cause they must be pushing 1200 pounds, are curiously brown and white and some of them even have horns. [Big Grin] [Wink]

I am trying to find my monthly flyer from BGSL but the last one said something about raising the fee to 100.00 per year and more for the initiation.
I dont get out there as much as I would like but it is a great place for the hunter and target shooter.
They have events for, sporting clays, 3d archery, rifle, pistol, field trials for pointers and setters, a casting pond, and deer hunting durring season for muzz. , archery, and shot gun.

My wife took are gsp's out today and they pointed 3 quail that were left over from the trials a month ago.

You can talk to some serious bench rest shooters that use the facility , with there 3000.00 rifles. They let you drive down to put your target's up at the 300 yd range when the (all clear) is given.

Last Saturday morning I drove I64 from Louisville to Ashland and saw 8, 5 in fields and 3 on the right of way.

I live 80 miles south of Ashland, we see them everytime we go up on the stripmines. My brother and I killed 6 during the last gun season. I have called in 3 this winter and you still can hear 15-20 howling every morning just before daylight.

Hey Ruger#1, Knob Creek was the club my buddies had mentioned and I couldn't remember. I'll check it out too.

Hey gsp, Thanks for the info. It does sound like a great place.

Hey TERRY8mm, Sounds like your eyes are even better than mine. Good luck this Spring and Summer.

GSP, you left out the Skeet and Trap houses, the camping area and the club house. [Smile] It is a nice place.
There were a few people that wanted to hike up the price to make it more "exclusive" (translation: all you regular folk smell funny) when I was a member before but it was voted down. Looks like they are up to it again. Seems to me that if they leased out a little more of the land for farming, they could make the funds they are wanting without pricing it out of normal peoples reach.
